It’s no secret that WordPress started as a blogging platform and there are tens of millions of blogs out there. Even though most of us do WordPress design/development for a living, blogging was what introduced us to the platform in the first place but given the busy daily schedule of work tasks, calls/chats and social networks, we tend to neglect it.
I miss writing
I miss writing. I used to do it a few times a week, writing in several blogs of mine – sharing daily facts or code snippets, or useful links I found, announcing events, summarizing conferences and so on. I used that as a personal reference to search in later or share an opinion with various friends at once.
Currently there is an Ultimate Blog Challenge running and the rules are daily blogging for a month. It was tempting to join but I was fully aware that it is impossible given my agenda juggling with several projects at a time. On the other hand a less regular, yet consecutive routine would be easier to follow and revive the habit of regular blogging without affecting the quality and amount of work on a weekly basis.
The challenge
Okay, maybe it’s not really a challenge per se, but it’s a friendly game where all WordPress peeps are welcome to join. As with more team sports, team exercises, diets and so on it’s easier to follow a group initiative to be more strict in following the rules.
The only rule here is blogging 3 times a week for a period of two months. We will start on Monday, July 22 and “officially” end on Sunday, September 22. That’s 9 weeks of blogging at least 3 times a week 🙂 Hopefully this would become a healthy habit to follow from now on, but let’s start with baby steps and see where it goes!
Join me!
I would like to invite all my friends from the WordPress community who feel too busy to get into regular blogging but still want to maintain that great habit of sharing with the public. It’s a game where everyone is welcome (trolls prohibited explicitly) but WordPress folks could unite in particular to show their support to the WordPress platform itself and add up by contributing some handy tips and tricks, conference reports, dig up some old drafts from the past, show some love to the community or just entertain.
If you want to feel the team spirit, write a comment under this post and let’s start together on Monday (Jul 22nd)!
