LinkedIn Isn’t What It Used to Be—Here’s What That Means

LinkedIn is like Instagram but gathering freelancers and digital agencies (hardcore tech focus) ⬇️

In 2020-2021, my educational content here was mainly reaching executives and founders of $1M – $30M businesses.

I’ve built over a hundred decks and guides around management strategy and operations, marketing funnels and sequences, financial diversification and investment principles for executives…

As my reach disappeared by the end of 2023, most of my posts regularly get 1-2k views – and occasionally close to 500. This for a 16 year old profile with 22,000 followers, while my email list Is now 16,500-strong and counting and my X posts get about the same or more.

The algorithm is no longer the same, but so is the current audience here.

When a post goes viral, it tends to gather thousands of freelancers and engineers, or indie founders seeking funding, or agencies monitoring funding news to poach new clients.

The number of digital vendors + the time they spend on LinkedIn is going up rapidly while traditional executives in my network are pulling back and spending less time in a dense, viral feed, with LinkedIn outreach going on a lot.

While your mileage may vary, LinkedIn serves a different purpose today for a different audience compared to the 2015-2022 period of growth and executive collaboration.

And in the era of automation and AI, lacking a great forum for B2B professionals enables opportunities for all the paid Slack groups, Skool communities, WhatsApp networks, and every physical event to bond and nurture said relationships.
