Honoring the Backbone: National Employee Benefits Day and the Real Work That Keeps the World Running

Massive respect to all blue-collar workers on this National Employee Benefits Day – a cohort that’s largely underrepresented digitally and on social media.

I’m waiting for a plumber at 9pm tonight. Had an electrician come over a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning. A roofing expert on a Saturday late afternoon.

Most of them start calling at 7am while most of us are still napping or snoozing for the first time.

HVAC, construction, mechanics, carpentry, warehouse work.

Ever thought of the truck drivers spending 11+ hours on the wheel (and a few more back and forth)? Laser-focused work that’s lethal if you blink for more than a second.

What’s happening in the agentic era is squeezing a portion of office jobs, but on Bright Monday, too, we can appreciate the comfort of most corporate jobs, especially during freezing winters or burning-hot summers, with fairly regulated working hours.

Some roles will always be too hard, expensive, slow, or risky to replace. Others won’t need as many humans behind a screen anymore.

Top talent will always remain in demand – and that’s a never-ending journey of learning, incremental improvements, and hard work week after week.

Just like the handymen in this creative.
