Back to Work, Forward with Intention: What a Week Offline Taught Me

After an unforgettable honeymoon week 馃嵕, I’m returning to work with more clarity and wisdom, a broader emotional palette, a new appreciation of relationships, friendships, loyalty, support, communication, commitment, devotion.

This is the longest I’ve been almost entirely disconnected since pre-2010.

While I can speak at length about some of my recent “discoveries”, this spiritual enlightenment is a topic best discussed in private with more context and clarity tailored to the stage of life and aspirations of each individual person.

What strikes me coming back in is the endless social noise (one I’ve been writing about publicly on LinkedIn specifically since January 2024) with repetitive topics, tension, FOMO, scarcity, breaking news, and other viral or controversial discussions across most social networks today.

Being offline for a week – or 99% in “write and reply”-only mode – has been more rewarding than ever.

Missing the barrage of breaking news or war stories or weather storms or any local news – or just skimming newsletter headlines for 2-3 minutes a day – hasn’t decreased my quality of life or understanding of the world.

Omitting the Opus 5 deep dives or comparisons to Fable or costs hasn’t decreased the quality of my agentic network that has been running in the background, performing anything from content updates to SEO and CRO audits, to financial insights and BDR enrichment.

Missing influencers’ posts online hasn’t negatively impacted my ability to communicate (because feeds pitch them predominantly, influencers don’t tend to reply or don’t tend to connect, and comment feeds are not networking venues).

Reading a chapter a day has led to focus tied to execution.

And this is not a weekly motivational or a productivity post. Work is here to stay and projects will keep scaling and growing up, and meetings this week will keep happening, from client and partner meetings to interviews to internal weekly scrums.

The time allocation and content consumption and communication preferences have been adjusted in the past 2 weeks and most of that has better life implications without negative consequences. These are some of the timely updates I’m focused on prolonging and adapting permanently in the coming months and maybe years – a level of self-reflection only possible after a brief disconnect.

DMs and replies are still monitored and responded to (except for sales pitches).

The rest of the digital disconnect is protecting time both for my newly officialized (and absolutely incredible) family, and for more impactful, insightful, and rewarding ventures than comment wars and flame discussions on random social profiles with no substance or any form of longevity.

Cheers to a mindful and positive week ahead,
Mario
